Jain Pratikraman- Observance of Self Reflection
Updated: Nov 7, 2019
Pratikraman is the ritual of repenting one's past misdeeds. Performed twice, once in the morning and once during the evening, devotees ask for forgiveness of their mistakes and desire to reduce the negative karma that affects their souls. Through this practice, people can free themselves from the bondage of destructive karma and purify our souls with self-reflection and self-understanding.
I believe pratikraman is an important practice that can be performed by anyone. The ritual simply requires one to meditate and relieve themselves of repressive thoughts and feelings. More and more people should try to incorporate this simple yet greatly empowering ritual in their lives and recognize the positive spiritual change that results.
